Roselea Care Home in Slimbridge has been flooded for the third time in six years. Despite numerous calls by residents and the Member of Parliament to Severn Trent Water Limited and Gloucestershire County Council for the road to be resurfaced and the culvert to be replaced the repair and replacement work has still not been scheduled. For many years now it has been accepted by all parties that the work needs to be done but the delay has now exposed the most vulnerable in our society to conditions which are entirely intolerable. One young man at Roselea, a home that supports individuals with learning disabilities, autism and complex health needs, is now having to travel to Hereford for the next two weeks in order to sleep because the Profile Bed that he usually sleeps on at Roselea has been damaged by the flood. Additionally the flood has left the care home without a landline or internet service, the consequences of which could be disastrous should they need to contact the emergency services. Neighbours of Roselea Care Home, who were also badly affected by the flood, are finding the situation particularly stressful with the threat of repeat flooding hanging over them.
